Two of us made a trip to the dogpark earlier today. We had 2 dogs with us that were new to the park, so we started them in the small dog area since nobody was playing in there at the time. We noticed how insecure the gate latch is in this part of the fence structure. I used a leash to tie the interior gate closed, as any of our dogs could have just pushed it open. And did. Not only was she able to squeeze through the opening of the interior gate, she was also able to push open the exterior gate. She was able to accomplish this as I was untying her leash from the interior gate. This is a 60 lb. rottweiler. Any dog under the 30 lb. limit in this side of the park would have no problem at all getting through this barrier. After about 15 minutes, I was able to catch my dog, but fear that someone else may not be as fortunate in the future. Please fix this!!! The dog park is a wonderful place for a dog to just enjoy being a dog, not a place it's owner should have to fear escape from.

Love the new toys/obstacles that were recently installed (perfect for most dogs) - but I have heard comments at the park the jump should be adjustable for all dog heights - maybe when more funds/plans come in you guys can purchase some with removable poles? also maybe some weave poles sometime? I caught a glimpse at the plans and it looks great and I understand that its probably a top priority over new toys. Keep up the great work!

HEllo i was at the dog park on sunday and i was reading the rules and regs and i did notice that you have NO PIT BULLS due to the city ordinance WHICH HAS BEEN LIFTED. DEL CITY DOES NOT HAVE A PIT BULL BAN ANYMORE BECAUSE IT WAS UNCONSTITUIONAL to rule out one breed of dog....i would like to know if this is going to be fixed at the dog park as well.

I will NEVER take my dog to this park again!!!! She has been attacked TWICE now, and all the owners do is STAND THERE, and don't help. Those people that let their dogs just go after another dog should be thrown in jail! My dog isn't the first that's been attacked here. And No one cleans up after their dog. I can't tell you the amount of poop I have had to walk around. If this park isn't going to be monitored, and dogs are going to continue to be attacked, then Del-City needs to shut it down.

I agree with Mrs. Preast! I visited my vet today and she said that she has seen quite a few dogs come in from attacks from this dog park. She does not recommend taking any dogs there, as she also said the owners are not very responsible, and there are too many attacks!

I was at the park today, usually my dogs are ok most of the ones that go at the time of day that I'm there with my 2 are good dogs. I have been aggressive at making pet owners take their dogs out if they attack another dog. I just tell them to take the dog out or I will call someone that will. I did call delcity police department one day and they were ready and willing to come to the park to take care of it, while I was on the phone with them the owner took the dog out. Today Abraham attacked 1 of my dogs, the owner brings treats and that causes the dogs to fight, you can't help stupidity but again I told her to take the dog out and told her about the treats she said ladida so I just picked up my phone and dialed 911 she also left but this time before I got the call made. The rules should be posted on the gates I think but then if they don't read the big ones on the fence why would they read them on the gate. The pet owners need to be aware that you can call 911 and ask them to send the closest officer or animal control officer and the dog will be removed if the owner isn't willing to do it on their own but it's been my experience that they don't want to have their dog taken.

TO ANONYMOUS ABOUT THE POOL
There are plans afoot to include a real water feature. Probably something that will grow over time. One of the obstacles is raising the funds to start the project and the other is working around the issue of Wiggly Field being located in a flood plain.
Fortunately we have a very competent and knowledgeable individual who works with us closely on the flood plain issues, but it can limit some of what we can do. We hope to have a fund raiser some time in the coming months and perhaps the first phase of the water feature will become a reality by next summer.

We recently planted some more trees to replace the ones that did not make it on the first go-around.
Hope everyone remembers to drop a few coins in the donation box outside the entrance. The box is check almost daily.
Thanks for visiting our dog park and Semper Fi y'all!!

Pitbulls are not allowed in Del City by Ordinance. I don't like it and feel it is stereotyping but that is the law for now.

The dog toys are too slick for the dogs to move around on. Can some kind of adhesive or rubber be sprayed onto the paw walking areas?
